Illustrator Olivia Duchess brought light and life to the adventure with her magical artwork. | PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS: The Senior Year AdventuresI love working on these iconic covers with Victo Ngai. For this new series which follows Percy through the first semester of his Senior year in high school, Victo used a fiery Autumn palette. | VAMPIRINA BALLERINAI often share spreads from this book with aspiring illustration students because Uyen has created bold graphics AND wonderful surprising details. Uyen's use of color is a master class. |

THE SUN AND THE STARThis adventure of Nico and Will making their way through the challenges of Tartarus is dramatic and also deeply loving. Illustrator Khadijah Khatib created this striking cover capturing adventure and emotional connection. | KEEP DANCING THROUGH: A BOSS FAMILY GROOVEAllison Holker-Boss and Stephen "tWitch" Boss created a fun and inspiring story drawing on their experiences raising their 3 children in touch with their emotions. The message became more important as we finished the book after his tragic death. I loved working with illustrator Shellene Wright and we are working on a second book written by Allison focusing on healing and transformation. | PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANSFor this new repackage of the Percy Jackson series cover illustrator Victo Ngai beautifully illustrated the concept of using an iconic element for each of the 5 books. |
FOR YOU, I WILLSports anchor Elle Duncan was inspired to write a "love letter" to her daughter which became FOR YOU, I WILL. Illustrator Laura Freeman added a whole new level of visual narrative including important African American women from history in her stunning illustrations. | LOUD MOUSEIt was a thrill to bring the story inspired by Idina Menzel to life. A great experience working with illustrator Jaclyn Sinquett on one of her first books. | DRAWN TOGETHERIt was wonderful to work with this story which resonates with so many families, including mine. Dan Santat used traditional brush pen and ink to represent the grandfather's art, it is stunning. |
MAGNUS CHASE AND THE GODS OF ASGARDI have art directed the branding across all the Rick Riordan series to hang together but to be distinct from each other. John Rocco's art for the Magnus Chase series jackets is a collage of an iconic element and active figure. THE HAMMER OF THOR won the Stonewall Award for middle grade fiction. | THE WATERMELON SEEDIt was a thrill to work with Greg Pizzoli on this bold graphic picture book. Greg's hand lettering integrates perfectly with the art on every spread. This book won the Geisel Award in 2014. | BLACKOUTI enjoyed working with amazing illustrator John Rocco on this book. His spare text and limited palette make for a stylish and dramatic book. BLACKOUT was awarded a Caldecott Honor medal in 2012. |
ARU SHAH GRAPHIC NOVELThis graphic novel adaptation of this middle grade adventure in the Rick Riordan Presents imprint was a joy to work on. Illustrator Anu Chouan brought the story to life with a vivid color palette. | BIBBIDI BOBBIDI ACADEMYThis is an extension of the Cinderella Fairy Godmother story, what if she created a magic school. The book is a young fully illustrated chapter book, full color throughout. This series is a showcase for the adorable and quirky characters and stunning setting created by illustrator Lorena Alvarez Gómez. | WISHI worked with the super talented Matt Cordell and superstar editor Kevin Lewis to bring this distinctive new baby story to life. My favorite image is the "birth" by boat/ocean arrival. |
THE TRIALS OF APOLLOThe inspiration for John Rocco's jacket art for THE HIDDEN ORACLE is the dramatic sunsets of Manhattanhenge in New York City. | RUTHERFORD B. WO WAS HE?John Hendrix integrated his gorgeous hand lettering into his illustration on every spread. | THE HEROES OF OLYMPUSI enjoyed working with illustrator Nilah Macgruder to create these accessible monochromatic covers for the repackage of the Heroes of Olympus series. |

We use a different dominant color for each of her six books that we repackaged at the same time. |
THE KANE CHRONICLESIllustrator John Rocco drenched this jacket art for THE THRONE OF FIRE with vivid monochromatic color and kept the characters in silhouette to add drama and sophistication. | KINGDOM KEEPERS, THE RETURNThe challenge for this Ridley Pearson series is creating jacket imagery that is recognizable as Disney characters but with a sophisticated style. | DEEP BLUEThe mermaid on this IP fantasy jacket was created with a complex and exciting underwater photoshoot. |
AN AMERICAN PLAGUEThis book tells the gruesome history of Yellow Fever like a thriller. The cover was meant to look like a notice posted in 1793, we used a background of an old piece of wood that designer Kerry Martin dragged in off the street! |
